Safety, Security, and Health for Each Worker, and Use of Technology

Written by one to ONE Holdings | 2024/10/29

o2OG is a group of "glocal" (global/local) companies led by o2Oh, a Singapore-based firm originating in Japan. While o2Oh is a relatively new operation founded in 2016, I, Shin Nakamura, have more than 20 years of experience serving as top management for Daiwa Steel Tube Industries Co., Ltd (DSTI) in Japan since 2003.

I’m Shinichiro (SHIN) Nakamura, the President of o2Oh and DSTI, which has been manufacturing steel tubes in Japan for more than 90 years over three generations.

DSTI, founded in Osaka in 1932, produces and distributes galvanized steel pipes. With the Japanese steel pipe market shrinking due to the falling birthrate and aging population, the company has moved its head office to Tochigi Prefecture (150 km north of Tokyo) to manufacture and sell steel pipes for a variety of applications ranging from construction materials to industrial products. “Eco-friendly pipes, from Tochigi to the world!” is our slogan.

The number of manufacturing industry players in Japan is declining along with the graying population. This situation is expected to occur sooner or later in many other countries and regions as well.

Meanwhile, the manufacturing sector is also seeing a Digital Transformation (DX) to progress and evolve in on-site operations continually, driven by the emergence of IoT, Big Data, and AI.

One of our core initiatives is to address social issues in Japan and around the world by digitalizing the knowledge and know-how we have gained from our wealth of experience from manufacturing operations in Japan and overseas as “Manufacturing Intelligence” to improve safety, effectiveness, and efficiency of operations.

This initiative is rooted in our commitment to the safety, security, and health of each and every person involved in the business. The challenge that o2OG faces is how to balance safety, security, and health with productivity through the use of technology.

We would like to share our experiences, thoughts, and ideas with you by regularly publishing blog posts.
